Well this is most odd:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461…
I actually don't generalise about people (well I do but not less than anyone else does and at least not as much as everybody else does), but Stallone making a movie about Poe... well that's really surprising in a good way. I will watch this film, since Poe is one of my earlier references.

uhhh no.
there was supposed to be one in the works for this year, with robert downey jr being poe... which is a damn near perfect match up.i don't think stallone could pull off this movie the way it should be done, and nothing bad about mortensen but... meh.

downey jr... I don't know if that's a perfect match. Matching a face doesn't make a whole film.
To me a good actor is he (or she, pc speaking) that doesn't sound like the same actor all the time. that's why I like Sean Penn (which is one of the most varied actors I can think of) - because he never plays the same character; or Naomi Watts. We all like Pacino, De Niro, Dreyfuss, Redford, Pitt, and all other actors and actresses that I can't recall right now... but they always play the same role in a film.

shit I can't remember any women's name. I'm either having a blank or I'm turning gay.

Corvo has a point. And actually, I think that's why I ignore Brad Pitt. He's a decent actor, but nothing he does is exciting. And he still can't pull off a film as the main protagonist. He's always the best at being the second guy. I don't know if it's better that he sticks to what he's good at, but to me that doesn't signify any development.
I do like Downey though....so...I guess we'll see.
- seven? fight club? assassination of jesse james? what are you talking about?emokid
- I guess I mean "exciting" to women. But seriously, what has he done that shows that he has developed?Jaline
- What have you ever done in your life but post a useless comment on a message board?********
- Have I offended your love for Pitt?Jaline
- All you do is consume and insinuate, after what you insinuated last week...********
- I can't imagine you ever showing your face around here again.********
- LOLJaline
- Buttons.********
- I truly don't blame you. I blame that brain, and parents of yours.********
- 12 monkeys, interview with a vampire, seven, fight club, brad pitt is a damn good actor. You really have no idea what you are talking about.cosmo
- ...are talking about.cosmo
- cosmo, those are the films he was great in, but many of his performances are not outstanding.Jaline
- I am judging based on the number of projects he has worked on as well.Jaline
- And while those films are good, it doesn't mean other actors were not better than him.Jaline
- Jaline has gone theCooCooooPonyBoy
- I think I have this opinion of him because, while I don't hate him, he is overrated. Only now is he starting toJaline
- break out of his mold. Like with the "Assassination..." when he should've been recognized for his performanceJaline

I'm not lessening (is this english?) any players, but truth is most actors develop a style for a particular character. That's the trouble with Hollywood. They cast actors for a style and a repertoire; after a while it all seems like an unending soap opera.

I will say I agree with this guy:
"Anyway, I'd say Brad deserves some recognition, if only because he seems to lend his starpower to get some indies and movies that might otherwise be hard to finance of the ground. Think of the Assassination of Jesse James, or take a look at the movies he's doing in the next couple of years. You've got to respect the fact that nowadays he seems to only do movies he truly believes in too. All his upcoming projects sound quite interesting. "
I just don't see him as a "great" actor. He's "good".
Tom Cruise is even worse. He plays the same character in every film.
- I don't see you being good at anything besides commenting one what is being fed to you.********
- It's my opinion. He's made a few good films. Doesn't mean he's a great actor.Jaline
- that's the typical ad hominem comment, jessejensen: instead of dissecting the opinion to death you go for the person.********
- just read notes above... looks like I'm out of the loop.********
- but if you're not joking you're being the perfect arse-hole.********
- You simply don't understand and it's not worth me trying to explain, bro. Lates.********
- ok then. I'm a foreigner.********
- Actually, Corvo, there is no history behind it. It's basically like this every time Jesse posts in the same thread...Jaline
- You're a desperate cunt, that deserves the worst hell on earth, babe.********
- lolzor@jesse... yer outta controllll!! :)PonyBoy
- I know. Corvo=Witt. I've been here before. I never got how Jesse got all the spikes in the first place.********

I like Sly... he did well in Copland... coulda got an award for his roll in that film and I'd of supported it...
... it's just funny cuz Ramboob is about to hit the theatre and now all the sudden the Poe story. hehe :)
- colin_s0
i was mainly referring to the fact downey's past with drugs & alcohol and the repercussions on his art aren't far fetched from poe's issues and he'd probably be able to play the character with extreme accuracy. which is also why i think downey'll pull off tony stark pretty well.
- very true... I'd of picked Downey over Sly for this roll any day... I was just givin' Sly a lil credit. :)PonyBoy
- but troubles with alcohol and drugs are not exclusive to Downey's. In fact Poe's work is lucid for his time afaik.********
- Sly shouldn't play him by any means...Jaline
- are you a casting genius all the sudden, juhhh leeen eeeee?! :)PonyBoy
- i love sly... he'll pull this off and blow everyone away. :)PonyBoy
- haha, maybe. It depends on what age Poe is supposed to be in the film.Jaline
- Poe was small, oddly shaped, and dedicated to impressing the women with poetry. Yeah, Downey is probably a better fit.blaw
- Yup, then I will take Downey over Stallone. But there may be other actors...what about that guy from Memento?Jaline
- sly is shorter than downey... isn't he?PonyBoy
- Downey = 5' 9"
Stallone = 5' 10Jaline

Just remembered a few girls who always play the same role, but I don't want to get my colon schorchèd, so I guess I'll just wait for Stallone on Poe and end this subject. Actually I can wait for Stallone on Poe.
I won't wait for Mad Max on Evelyn Waugh though, if it ever comes to that sort of surprise. Even a foreign-to-the-matter dude has it's limits.
- PonyBoy0
The dude created/wrote and starred in Rocky...
... too bad he made more than one of them though... hehe... kinda cancels out Rocky all-together.

To be honest, although Stallone talks like an chocked Ford Bronco, I've seen all his movies and I can't help liking him. He always have something to say that makes sense in a particular way; even when he jumps from a mile high cliff into a forest into a forest and he's next sewing his bruised armpit with a butter-knife. I wonder what he can do of Poe tuberculosis. Not kidding - he may have gathered enough money to make a nice film about Poe - as long the hero doesn't make it in the end.
- I heard sly's gonna rewrite Poe's death - something about a helicopter explosion and 'friendly fire'...PonyBoy
- I didn't explain myself quite right here. I've been at a drinking party so I shouldn't make any sense at all.********
- lol @ pony. You know we'll be surprised. No one gave a shit about Penn when he started directing.********
- but then it was really surprising howcome such a "stupid kid" could make a nice movies.********
- a = such. sorry.********
- damned drunk typerz!PonyBoy
- Truth is we don't know what goes on in sly's library at night. Actually I do not wanna know but I'm sure it's poe enough.********
- :D goodnight folks.********
- I know I sound twisted but I'm really looking forward to it - with a hint of suspicion I won't hide it. k done bye lates.********

I've seen Sylvester Stallone in a few interviews and he's actually quite intelligent. He did make Rocky and First Blood after all.
