“An evening with the Hebberoys offered a Roman Empire-style mix of art, argument, interesting flavors and remarkable booze. Then Michael Nero’d it.”

alice B toklas for yr comeback? Right there I figured he was probably going to end up a Martha stewart to Fresh field /whole foods in store demonstrator. There's a Bucks Hunting and Fishing in DC that is a restaurant with the same kind of egalitarianism outside the kitchen at least.

that fits the pretentious image i have of people from seattle/portland. of course no offense to seattle/portland people on NT. i am sure y'all are a fine bunch.

I was a weekly regular at clarklewis when it opened in 04. it was amazing - incredible food so cheap. Michael was always there, looking over everything. Morgan was too, and he's a fantastic chef. I also caught some of his demonstrations at our local "chef in the market" series. Amazing cook, very egotistical.
clarklewis is still around, Nicole recently sold it. Not as good as it was and is more pricey. It's a shame.

The article also mentions Gabriel Rucker - who's on fire at le Pigeon. That place is awesome and you can sit at the counter a couple feet from Gabriel and his crew while their cooking everything. Had some nice conversations with the guy, not pretentious, will tell you all about what he's doing in the kitchen.
