I've been on the creative side of the online business/agency for 10+ years. I've held titles such as Art Director, Interactive AD, User Experience Manager, Info Architect etc.
During my career I've also been a part of a few successful start up ventures and have had quite a bit of experience in project management, online marketing and client relations.
I really want to pursue a path toward something like Strategy Director or some such title. Primarily concentrating on research, brand and creative strategy. Structuring campaigns and developing media plans and working with all the teams from the executive, the technical, sales, account managers, creative etc.
So then, my question is since I have a creative background primarily, how difficult do you think it will be for me to transition into such a role? Does anyone have any examples of resumes or job descriptions of such a role? I've found a few on Google, but having more would help.
Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll get lots of wiseguy retorts here, but thought I might get a few actual intelligent responses.
Cheers

I certainly don't know much about that side of things, but it seems you have quite a bit of experience - have you thought about starting your own gig? you could start out consulting while you are writing your biz plan and see where it takes you.

Sounds like a natural progression to me, someone interested in branding should naturally progress from the purely visual upwards to the strategic. How to actually do would depend on where you are I guess, but if you are in an agency with that kind of scope, then obviously speak up to the relevant person, if not, I guess getting your relevant work together with some written explanation can't hurt, and then sending your CV etc to places you like the sound of regardless of if they are advertising positions.
Not much help I guess.

I would love to start my own thing, but man what a hussle! I guess that's why you make the dough eventually, cause it's so much hard work in the beginning!
Ok, who wants to be my partner?
I'll be the Sr. VP of Doorknobs and Fixtures, Brass and Glass Division. And you will be the Executive VP of International Lawnchairs and BBQ's
Together we will do some amazing things!
Ah skip it, I think I'd rather drive the beer cart at the golf course.

it's hard to get into those positions without an mba nowadays. maybe look into an mfa or even a master of design and hope some forward looking company is willing to give you a shot.
