i have like 3000 jpgs to modify manually one by one in FCP......
an evening of fun awaits me!i'm glad it's solved though. :)

Eeek, there's gotta be a global way to do that. Anyone?

that would be GREAT

just make the illustrator file 10% larger and import it in again. then you will have room to fit to size.

the thing is these are high res jpgs hand drawn so i can't scale up and import, and the edges are meant to match the 720x576 box.
if i scale the whole thing up i'll crop it.
right now once imported they are slightly squeezed horizontally (forgot to mention that, sorry) so it's definitely a format issue..

it sounds like your images may be square pixels, while your video is rectangular pixels. Adjust the pixel ratio one image in photoshop, reimport it, and see if that works.

Yeah, check to make sure your images and Sequence formats are the same, in terms of pixles. PAL, NTSC, square, etc.

i just did, also just did what skelly suggested (the images have a square ratio indeed!) and reimported but the result is the same.
i checked the project and sequences settings, they're all to the ones mentioned in my first post.
argh. getting closer though, thanks for the help guys! keep it coming! ;)

ok so apparently even if i correct the aspect ration is Photoshop and save, it goes back to square once i put it on the timeline in FCP.
but nothing is set to square pixel ration o_O

wow.. ratiO IN Photoshop
- spl33nidoru0
ok so i solved it.
for future searches' sake :
all the jpgs have square pixel ratio so i need to change that one by one apparently once imported in FCP (item properties/format) and then in the Modify menu, select Conform to Sequence once they're on the timeline (though that might not be necessary).
What i still don't get is why jpegs saved with D1/DV PAL pixel ratio appear as saved with square pixel ratio once imported in FCP, though the project isn't set this way..
MYSTERY!

i have this problem from time to time as well. Pain in the balls, i know. :/
Not sure why this is.
