Anyone Deadwood fans here amongst us?

I saw an episode when the first aired, and I liked it quite a bit, but later that week we ditched HBO.
But now I see the DVD's of the 3 seasons advertised on TV, and it's rekindling my interest.........

A friend of mine works on the production side of the show. He says that after they finish shooting John From Cinncinati, they're going back to shooting two- 2 hour finales for Deadwood.

swejjen rocks. Seen the first 3 episodes of John From Cinncinati, some familiar deadwood faces.

So I watched a few episodes last night. I usually love HBO shows but I watch so many things already...not sure if I will keep up with this one. It's good, but not amazing to me. Maybe it's because I'm not into Westerns? Perhaps it gets better with each episode though...

Watched season 1 - start of season 2 but got bored of it. Nothing new happens, most episodes include - someone or some people get shot + lots of cursing + some nudity.
- That's what I mean. I like the characters, but it's too slow for me.Jaline
- yep, life's too short! I've stopped watching Lost/Prison Break for same reasonsrough
- Okay, I've lost you. "Lost" just started getting really good, and "Prison Break" is okay again. Not as good as s1.Jaline
- Prison Break is ok - but at the end of each episode they're always back where they started! kinda annoying, rough

If you let it grow on you you'll see its strengths. The character development is superb and by about half way through s02 the timing, staging, writing, acting and the sheer theatricality of it is awesome.
Definitely my favourite TV show ever. Ian McShane is a legend.
- Thanks. Well...I'm almost done season 1. I will check out the rest when I have more time. It's being canceled anyway...Jaline

John From Cinncinati rocks, as does Deadwood, bring on the TV movies!

I loved it.. though.. some reason we started season three and just ran out of steam.. we never finished it.. i need to finish it.. we have actually been thinking of a road trip to Deadwood.. it is supposed to e really cool.. they used to have a really cool Flinstones Park somewhere in the Blackhills.. i have pictures of myself there as a kid..

I forgot to mention, is it just me, or is Timothy Olyphant (Seth Bullock) not the greatest actor in this series? While he is very nice eye-candy, he seems too fake to me. I have seen him in other projects and he acts the same way all the time. Some tough guy.

I mean "tough guy", as in wooden.

No, if you watch the series you'll understand Seth Bullock's character. I think Timothy Olyphant does a pretty good job at playing Seth.

This was one of the best shows on hbo, period. Then they cancelled it then they promised to do a 2-hour movie to rap up the loose ends, then I read somewhere in a interview with Timothy Olyphant that they told him it was over that hey were taking the set down...bummer.
