Don't be wiser than your average apple fanboy and PAY UP! Get the real thing that is made in the same factory under a different merch name!

1Gb of RAM for my PC costs me about £30.

I guess they're talking laptop ram, moth.
My macbook originally had hynix ram inside, afair. I bought patriot, but I have a feeling it causes battery to drain quicker. Still haven't tested that properly.

"There is a solution, you know what it is... what's the problem?! "

No problem Raniator & Tonx, i'm really sharing my experience so that other apple users don't get stiffed into buying overpriced RAM.

Apple has always gouged on RAM - they must find enough suckers to make the gouging profitable.

All their stuff is overpriced... saying to buy 3rd party ram is a little bit like saying if you don't want an Apple computer, but a Dell or something.
Luckily(?) there is an alternative to the ram which still allows us to use their hardware.
Does that make sense?!

"1Gb RAM for my Powerbook from Apple = $499 AUD"
1Gb RAM here in the US is only 300.
If when building an iMac and you want to upgrade another Gb of RAM it's only 175.
I think you hosed yourself for not maxing it out in the first place chief.

all computer manufacturers are guilty of this, not just apple. check dell, boxx, hp. businesses trying to make money, deal with it.

Apple is overhyped. Even in the 90s when everyone said Apple was #1 for graphic design and PC were nothing. Apples kept crashing non stop and corrupting files while you never got corrupted files from a PC.
