I think Brooke had it done, perhaps. Maybe start a thread with her name on it and see if she answers

Hell no.... Never will get that done. To many bad stories about it.

as a visual designer i see for a living so I don't trust lasers being shined in my eyes.

My dad had it done a year and a half ago. Went great, and it really has been a world of difference for him.

How did he decide which procedure to undergo?

I had it done in May. I had to get PRK (yes, I can hear the jokes already) instead of lasik though because my cornea was thin. I had both done at once and other than the discomfort of the healing process, everything went fine.
They do these proceedure so often now that I think there's something like a 1 in a million chance something could go wrong.
DO IT! I'm glad I did.

I am so deathly afraid of doing anything to my eyes with a laser that has an outside shot of either making me not need contacts, or having me go blind.
I have beautiful azure eyes, I want to see them forever (granted I need contacts and will probably be legally blind in the near future*).

Ah, I love anything that reminds me of 2A's Lasik Plus site, done back in 2000 or so.
As a very active mod on Flashkit back then my review of the site called out many things - namely the futuristic elements and tiny fonts that didn't appeal to the very target of the site itself: PEOPLE WITH EYE PROBLEMS WHO HAVE TROUBLE SEEING.
I said one thing or another about it, and over the course of a few email "lectures" from EJ about how "you always do what the client asks," I held my stance at stressing that the responsibility of a site designer and developer is to correctly inform your clients about issues such as 8 pt fonts (blurry in Flash, as well) and how they might be impossible to read for someone with eye problems.
The whole thing was rather hiliarious to say the least.

im thinking of getting it done, my prescripting hasnt changed on my glasses that i had same pair for the last 10 years.
i just want to wear sunglasses and be able to see, i want periferal vision without having to constant turn my whole head to see things.
plus the price seems to be dropping as the years flow by.
a know quite a few people that have had it done all very successful and all are still claiming its the best thing thing they ever done.
i am however too scarred to really figet the idea and follow thru with getting my heat vision.
ohhhh heat vision!!!!!!!

trying to sort out:
wavefront optimized and
wavefront-guided which seems to be the newer technology.
Price varies in proportion to fear.

good friend of mine did it 3 months ago. said it was a disturbing yet short procedure and he's quite pleased w/the results.
it's apparently well worth it if you wear glasses all the time, like he did.

you need to go in for a consultation (free) and let the doctors figure out which procedure is the correct one for you. I went in thinking I could get lasik, but had to get PRK instead.
If you're really concerned, then get one eye done at a time.
The actual procedure is trippy, you can "see" them pusing down on your eye, but you don't feel a thing. The colours are beautiful :)

thanks all- great we have choices like these.
- -sputnik-0
make sure you pick a really reputable place. he did it through this place in denver
in 6 months he might have to go for a mild correction in one eye since it's a tad blurry sometimes. they really follow-up well.

Rando is correcto, I had it done in 2005. Although sometimes I miss the look of glasses, holy shit does it make life easier. Never had a single problem afterwards. I'd totally recommend it. But make sure you do your research & get a good doctor. It is your EYES you're dealing with, after all.
