chick corea is one of my favourite jazz musicians and he's a big scientologist, doesn't mean he still isn't an amazing composer and musician. It does mean he releases some rubbish space themed albums sometimes, but the old stuff before he went mad is good.
Wagner was famously antisemitic but I still like some of his music, despite the fact I'm jewish.
It's weird but sometimes you can distance yourself from the person and just enjoy the art (only sometimes). I was never really into beck, I think I own odelay but I'm not worried if he wants to believe in xenu etc. Doesn't seem to influence his music much.

yeah but beck, i dont know noffink about his music, but moth really fancied him, he was like this cultural icon to moth and moth idealised him and being this enigmatic personality that he aspired to.
And then moth finds out he's a weirdo scientologist and then he loses all the creative enigma and sexual mystique moth projected on him, and all that is left is the beats.
Its a traumatic experience for him.
