I'm pretty surprised by the amount of scientology-bashing. Just because there are some crazy ones, doesn't mean that they're all freaks.

ok, it's weird but is it really any weirder than believing in angels, the devil, demons, heaven/hell etc...
i watched a programme where some indian dude went to investigate scientology, and apart from the unusual genesis (aliens etc..) story, most of it is about learning life skills, literature, communicating efficiently emotionally and verbally....
the media blow that shit waaaay out of proportion!
anywayz, if the musics good its good, who gives a shit about the artist?

i would certainly extend the same disdain to someone who i knew to be mormon, a born-again christian, or pretty much a fundamentalist of any description.
i don't care how good the music is. i don't want their fucked-up subliminal jesus / alien / lizard messages getting anywhere near my neurons.

heh. I don't like most of Beck's music anyway. Maybe a song here and there.
As for Tom Cruise, he REALLY surprised me with his nutty-ness. He always seems like a nice and emotional guy, and has a few good movies. It saddened me for a while, but then I realized that there really is something wrong with him if he's with Katie Holmes.

Scientology seems to be good at success-oriented brainwashing. I once bought Dianetics for $0.25 and actually read some of it.
What I was impressed with, was how simple was English it was written in, with many obvious terms explained. Anyone would understand it. The concept of psychosomatic blocks called "engrams" and acheving the state of "clear" to unleash one's full potential seemed nothing new to me.
Their methods might be working for many people, hence popularity of the sect. That and the brilliant concept of celebrities acquisition.Imagine nt without design celebs popping in from time to time, especially in its early days.. would it last till today? :)
