(Feb 7 07, 07:42Magical Thinking and Possible Side Effects are great ones by him because they are just short stories that are really fun to read. Dry is great, but in a dark humor kinda way. Sellvision is great cause it's about advertising...

I'm currently reading "Being and Time" by Martin Heidegger. (English translation by John Macquarrie and Edward Robinson.) It's a bit painful but I think I'm beginning to crack it finally. I don't know much about Heidegger himself other than he is supposed to be one of the foremost philosophers of the last century—and he sort of played for the wrong team for a little bit there in the late 30's / early 40's if you know what I mean. (Thankfully that doesn't seem to figure into this work though which he first published in 1927.) It's a toughie but I think I'll make it through. Eventually.

Speaking of books with a German flair, I just read The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, on a reco from a friend. Supposed to be a book for Grades 9 and up or so, so wasn't expecting a ton from it, but man. Told from the perspective of Death in Nazi Germany.
Cried like a bitch.
