good camera?

anyone recommend a sweet camera, with manual/auto options, 7 mp or higher, under $1000 bones? I have been using a 5 mp Nikon coolpix for a while, thinking about an upgrade...thanks everyone! :)

I picked up the D200 Nikon, and you can still find them with rebates and great deals... my fiance has teh Canon, and she is selling it 'cas she always uses the D200...

I just got a Nikon D80. It's great! Once you get lenses and all the other accessories it going to be a bit over $1000 though.

buy a used canon 20d - best deal out right now.

also try to find a deal WITHOUT the lens - because the lens they give you with the "package deal" is total garbage.
save yer $ and buy a fixed 50mm
for a few hundered.
