This morning on CNN they showed the wife of the dead climber, and my brother calls me up and says "Isn't that the girl who used to be the bartender at Mica bar about six, seven years ago. She was from Brooklyn too...?"
I turn on the TV, and damn if it wasn't her..and I remember her years back talking about how he boyfriend had died on Thanksgiving and she was all messed up bc of it...and now she gets married and her husband dies on the side of a fucking mountain..oh man...
She was a nice girl...tragedy...

where the heck did they die?
- honest0
no, the moral of the story is don't get involved with that girl unless you're a little suicidal.
though it is christmas so I do feel for the poor girl.
- grunttt0
that's crazy. poor lady.

my mom is/was real close to one of the two still missing. it's been tough the past two weeks.

it's truly a small world.
i would love for this story to end well (as possible) but it's not looking great.

yeah...sorry Chief...
And I gotta say, that as tragic as this situation is, and it is...it's getting way way too much coverage in the US media...

(Dec 19 06, 07:48)Mt. Hood Oregon. On the North face of the mountain.
They fear the other two had fallen off a revine (sp?) and are now covered in almost 10 feet of snow.

Jesus!
That sucks.
What's with Oregon, didn't the guy from CNet die there too!?
:(

(Dec 19 06, 07:47)i agree, not really news outside of the community. i can't imagine being in the family's position and having to read/watch it everywhere.
and thanks regarding the moms. it's been tough having to talk to her every night, consoling her and stuff. she's leaving dallas and headed here on saturday so i hope it eases it a little bit being back w/ family.

Kind of puts things in perspective...

i've been following this news but not as closely as i did on James Kim's story.
i hope they find them though but reading the reports, not looking too good.
best wishes.

I tell ya, something is up with the NorthWest states - I just got power on this morning after 4 days sleeping by the fireplace along with hundreds if thousands of other houses.

I'd rather follow a story of human interest like this than hear more about the fucking war in Iraq!
At least stories like this offer up some hope...

I've hiked that Cooper Spur trail in the summer up to about 9k. He was found in a snow cave at 10.5K.
Friends have been snowboarding last weekend said even at the resort at 8k the search and rescue helicopters look tiny. The mt. is huge.
