What a farce.

Piss-up in a brewery springs to mind. How can so many people be incompetent to the tune of forgetting about the VAT?
Imbeciles.
I reckon the final bill will be about £10bn. £3.3 is a lie.

Sucks :(
Here are the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics expected costs:
The games are going to cost an estimated 1.3 Billion Dollars. Television revenues are expected to yield 670 million and are 67% higher than originally estimated and budgeted. 50% of revenues will come from broadcasting, 40% from corporate sponsorship, 8% from ticket sales and 2% from licensing.

I understand smaller countries wanting to host the olympics to increase their tourism, public standing etc. a bit like the eurovision song contest. But why do we need it?
Surely we have a lot of tourism and people know who we are already. It's unlikely we'll make any money from it, even with broadcasting, advertising etc.
The figures being discussed for costs for the olympics are akin to the GDP of a small country, it's crazy!

It's a good time to invest in property in the areas that will be regenerated.

the olympic games stand for something beyond just generating revenue, think about the children in your country who will be positively effected by the games. The olympic games are an excellent opportunity for the host country to teach their children about things like friendship, co-operation and fair play.

(Nov 21 06, 06:31)how will these children be effected? with some kind of weird olympics photoshop filter?
Anyway, surely all kids will learn is how to ask their parents for the new nike shoes, take steroids and that the US always wins everything.

I still wish your logo was used for the 2010 games, Greg. Anyhoo, I agree about the positive impact it has on people. I get quite excited about the Olympics, I must admit.
