two things stood out in that article though.

But after police told him his DNA was found on her body, McCowen said they had consensual sex and he had beaten her, but he said his friend plunged the knife through her chest."
this one i don't like at all...

my issue with Justice is that sometimes they forget reality can be stranger then fiction.
in fact last summer i have been out for two nights with a very famous dutch woman and some friends and she told me she only dates firemen and guys like that..
tis all possible..
and that makes this case so difficult.

I agree with you guys.
Personally, I think he still deserves some punishment for what he did (beating + watching + not reporting), regardless of whether or not he killed the woman.

some people (both men and women) like what you'd call 'rough-trade' - meaning the stereotype working class, tough male. not sure they dig the death thing though.
plus, not many mothers are going to invite a bit of meaningless action home with a 2 year old in the place. go out for it sure but no way bring it home unless they were smoking/injecting the nasty stuff which she wasn't.
