I'm going to sue for misquoting.

something tells me cobain was a fan of 'music' in many forms. i don't think he would have a problem with the kids interpreting his songs...
or paul anka for that matter.

(Oct 6 06, 23:20)yeah, but whomever owns the publishing might. sue! sue!

d00d it's a high school band.. sue whom for what? i think it's cool that the kids got the teacher to let them learn that and perform it for the school. i can imagine how excited they were to practice or go to class each day and at the end of the day that's what school is all about. like something enough to get into it. i love the metallica string stuff that was done a bit back. nirvana's best performance ever inho was th unplugged session. it's one of my favorite cds. rip kurt.. . you'll continue to inspire for years to come.

i think Courtney owns the publishing rights, and that whore will roll over for whoever has the cash. I mean how many times did CBS' Rockstar Supernova do Nirvana songs?
IMHO Cobain was a great talent, but a lightweight punk who left behind his own child selfishly. Lost all respect for him after that...but then again if I was married to Courtney..
- acescence0
uh, yeah, joke.
anyway, he'd be a footnote in music history at this point if he hadn't offed himself. i think you give him a little too much credit. inspire? to what, kill yourself? his voice is barely listenable and his lyrics were nonsense.

and what have we all learned?
herion is bad, bad stuff.

(Oct 7 06, 06:07)they inspired some teens to dress in plaid and some bands latched onto their sound, but it was 1 record. for a band to have staying power they have to grow and evolve, which would require some amount of talent, of which there was none.
i'd be curious to know how old each of you were when that record came out.
- TheBlueOne0
Hey, I wouldn't undercut Cobain/Nirvana influence..they certainly changed everything.
I remember being the metalhead I was, being in my standard rock club on a Friday night the first time the DJ played "Smells like..." I mean the whole 80's metal thing just died right there, immediately, and everybody knew it. I mean, it was like as soon as the song was over we all stopped and stared at each other in the Metallica and Bon Jovi shirts and said, well, this is over. It was palpable. I mean the club died within a few months, even though it had been around for years before that. Turned into a titty bar..
But I still don't see the comparisons of Cobain to Lennon...he just doesn't have the depth of material..maybe if he lived and evolved..but hey..that's life..
- 100% completely agree with ya blue.
had a very similar experience with that song 1st time i heard it.exador1

yes. i remember the first time i heard that song. My friends were fans of Bleach, so the day it came out we went to the record store and got that album. We put it in and pretty much shit ourselves. We almost wrecked the Yugo trying to jump it on gravel roads that night 'cause we were so pumped up.
