Wow..this'll be interesting...

Maybe they're trying to minimize some of the trade deficit they so richly profit from.

This could be awesome. Way to go Walmart.
- Seff0
yeah, super idea
i can already see the walmart suits low-balling our american farmers for grain, like they do every other manufacturer

perhaps you yanks can finally go ahead in the race for a better environment with this and point at us europeans who are driving more and more and more SUV's and hardly have ANY bio-fuel available at all.
- tasty0
I think its good, but walmart is going to take over the whole contry soon, banks, alt. fuel, DVD rental, cheap toilet paper.
the heart of walmart is the customer.
- Sven_sk0
walmart is a horrible company.
its interesting how they are positioning this as environmentally green move when in reality the only green they are thinking about is $$$
will they buy all their corn from china just like they do with all the other crap they sell and continue to displace american jobs?

You: WE NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION TO OUR OIL DEPENDENCY! Someone needs to do something!!!!
Walmart: Hey, we'll sell E85 at almost all our stores and affiliates and make it readily available from the public. And, we'll buy the corn from the U.S. as it's more readily available and in larger quantities.
You: GODDAMN IT WALMART IS JUST DOING THIS FOR MONEY AND IT WILL BE BAD FOR THE LITTLE GUYS! GAAAAAHHHH!
Nothing, will ever be good enough for some of you guys. It's very disturbing.
Do you work for free? Do you freelance for free? Do you sell your things on ebay for free? Do you expect free cab rides?
Of course Walmart is doing this for money, they are a business. They provide a service, we purchase that service.
I see this as a rival for gas prices, and hope in the next 4-5 years as the government changes, and Walmart is selling an alternative for gas, this starts a GAS PRICE WAR and lowers prices across the board.
Is no one else on this board a 'my glass is half full' kinda guy?
WOW.
- Seff0
why don't you watch this garret

(Aug 9 06, 09:21)not when it comes to walmart. if it was ANYONE else other than them, i could get behind this.
ps. i have found a solution for MY oil dependency. its called the public transit system. i haven't put gas in my car in months and haven't set foot in a walmart in years and have no plan to anytime soon. they are just a bad company IMHO.

In my state some Meijers stores are already doing it. They even sell BioDiesel at the one in Ann Arbor. Way ahead of Walmart's PR move. Within the next 2 years BP will have E85 at most stations too. As a consumer I want to see Oil companies making the investment too.
- blaw0
ha,ha.. i do amuse myself from time to time.
and no offense if you're a cowboys fan.
- DeviceUnseen0
I agree with you garett_west
Big Oil are assholes, lobbying against this sort of thing for years, so we need another big asshole to fight them. Hello Walmart.
Yeah, Walmart will make a profit but we'll get E85 FINALLY! Lower our cost, lower the emissions - yes please. This is a additional revenue stream for farmers but I agree that the corn might not all come from the US - but hey NONE of our oil does.
- F_180
i have to say that despite my general disdain for walmart, they are very much in tune with the undercurrents of american society right now and are definitely onto something.
let the oil wars begin.

great news. If I had a car and lived in the US I would switch to ethanol. Overal some much needed good news for the planet.
- akrok0
ironic, as most of there stuff in the store are all imported from china, meaning thats a shit load of transport to use, every day.
ofcourse they do it for money, they have never had any other intrest.
but...going eco dont mean you can't make some bucks, its big business also.ciao.
- F_180
eco-capitalism is the way forward, theres tons of small companies set to go huge off of the impeding transition away from fossil fuels.
companies like GE (read: ecomagination) and Wal Marrt are simply trying to position themselves to profit from it and theres really nothing wrong with it so long as its legit.
