this is interesting and big news. we'll see how they supress the exposure of the issue but it's a common and troubling trend that oil supplies has been consistently threated time and time again all over the world recently while much of it can be avoided.

you know... if some folks would loosen up the EPA standards on drilling for resources over here... we (america) could 'ease up' on our energy imports...
... and keep working on New forms of energy while working w/in our own resources...
... just a thought.

chriistie todd whitman left the EPA because it had become a tool of big business. relaxing epa standards isnt the answer.

i've 'heard' misconceptions about bio-diesel... especially the form produced from Corn...
... it uses a ton of corn... and it's as 'dirty' to break it down and resolve it to a 'burning fuel' form... (this is what I've 'heard')
... oh... and it's super-pricey also.
I'm not against it at all... :)...
... love to read more up on it and be educated if some of you have seen some valid studies on all aspects of it's impact (economically & environmentally)...

(Aug 7 06, 13:20)What is the answer? Or at least yours. I'm curious.

exploration of alternatives.
- mrdobolina0
stop giving billion dollar tax breaks to oil companies, give those subsidies to these alternative energy vehicle companies, MIT and so on.
- mrdobolina0
or you can just stick with the status quo and not do anything about it.

Modern day Robber Barons.
The term robber baron (German: Raubritter) dates back to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, originally referring to certain feudal lords of land through which the Rhine River in Europe flowed. They abused their positions by stopping passing merchant ships and demanding tolls without being authorized by the Holy Roman Emperor to do so. Often times iron chains were stretched across the river to prevent passage without paying the toll, and strategic towers were built to facilitate this.

PonyBoy,
Are you serious?
you know... if some folks would loosen up the EPA standards on drilling for resources over here... we (america) could 'ease up' on our energy imports...
... and keep working on New forms of energy while working w/in our own resources...
If we let the il companies go up there and drill, yes it will buy us sometime, but it is all going to run out soon anyway. Exxon/Mobil's policy is to NOT spend a dime on developing ANY alternative fuel options. You think the govt is going to make them? hahahahahahahahaha
Anyone who even gets close to one gets shut down.
Hey, we are the assholes that keep buying all these SUV's and driving around the corner. We are the ones that insist that we have to drive to work by ourselves. Why dont we buy smaller, more fuel efficient cars? Wont look as cool I gues. The American consumer is the one to blame here. Not the oil companies. We are the ones that went out and bought up every four wheel drive SUV to drive on the highway. (mmm gotta have that 4WD.)
