yeah its a cool program - but like everyhitng else it has its weird spots here and there. maybe someone else could chime in here on how they use it... i'm not an expert by any stretch

Basically you bring a track in and 'artwork' it effectively - telling the computer that a sound is a beat and apply it to the rest of the trac. The application then splits up teh track into sections and beats and bars and whatnot, so you can just slice it up in ableton and build a track up – if you've ever used after effects or flash, it works this way, but with audio tracks as layers. The controls are similar to after effects, where you assign effects to different tracks and control volumes etc. Itr's really easy to use in this way to make mixes but when you do a live show you use it more spontaneaously, making koops and using it with a proper mixer.

Rand, you kind of can but i just used it as a comparison in reference to how it works – layers, timelines, controls etc. It's still pretty different by all accounts... gues you need to get a copy huh? I'll 'maybe' have a look round to see if I can help you.....

rewiring it into a recording/mixing app and/or using it to create an entire tune is perfectly possible. the 'live' aspect just lets you really go off on it. the beat on the st. is that it plays like an instrument...very maluable and improvisatinoal but nevertheless a solid production app for many sonic needs
