Only recently discovered Ableton Live. It's a wonderful prog. I used to work in Fruityloops, but I like the new approach of Live. Very intuitive, less is more kinda principle (i.e. the Operator).
Rock on!

Yeah man, I've been using ableton to DJ with for a couple of months now...not started producing uet but learning how to rip apart track and make loops to ease the mixing. Do a google for 'ableton Black Skins" and you can have a wicked black layout for your ableton. if anyone wants one of my techno mixes uploading, let me know!

sweet my goal is to eventually do mixes of my own productions live as well as do remixes and dj stuff...it's perfect really just gotta sink my teeth into it.
my current dilemma is using cubase sx to record track by track the stuff i'm doing in live via rewire...it's easy to get cubase to recognize live, I can start the mix and use the master in cubase, but i need to record each track...it has soemthing to do with the channels and bus #s or something but it's new to me...any advice or tutorials you know about?
ps and yeah upload your stuff !

ive used cubase for years. i quite fancied moving to ableton just for the fact you could play stuff back live and remix it on the fly.
i was overseeing some sound recording for a cd rom we were doing and i was talkig to the guy at the studio about the two programs. he said that the sound quality output from ableton was nowhere near as decent as cubase.
he reckoned ableton WAS a good tool for playing live with but not for using to MAKE your music on if you then want to take your music to commercial production.
he reccomended me sticking to MAKIN music in cubase SX, then exporting bits and chunks and using them in Ableton if i wanted to play stuff live.
Anyone fancy popping round and giving me a tutorial in Ableton cos i find it impossible to read manuals.

what's the easiest (mac) program for chopping up existing music into easily rearranged chunks and remixing it? something with the ease of loop based software?
