if it is an ad for a blank tab in Firefox then yes it is an exceptionaly good ad, otherwise I'm missing the point of it

Bad. The way the red Tai Kwon-Do text overlays the black person kicking shape in the background is really bad.

check the next post, mx-ond, the first was a link from a subscribers only section. i was not sure if the image was in the same secure area though!

i don't understand it but i definatly get that it's about bbc world and it'll stick in my mind...sometimes a a little vaguness is very good especially in this context.
explanation?
- Mimio0
It's editorial/journalistic.
- ********0
well it is pretty obvious, it is a billboard that also works as a tool to measure public opinions. it is about (mexican) immigrants (as you can see?) and people can text their choice to the billboard.. are they citizens or criminals?
- ********0
it's not obvious

It's editorial/journalist ic.
Mimio
(Jul 6 06, 15:10)it is also commercial.
it says:
"BBC WORLD. NOW IN AMERICA"
what would your reaction be if Fox had an ad up like this, Mimio?
- ********0
I like it, but I would have had the counters sunk level with the board instead of sticking out so they would be better visible from more angles...
nice imagery and it fits in with the bbc's classic no nonsense no frills look.

ok khilled, it may be a picture, but the billboard is huge, the van in the back has the text "border patrol" written over it..

if you go by written law and what has been established by the courts, then yes they are criminals.

let's stick to the contents of this ad please!?
mx, i think you missed the sony-bad ad thread. i am asking this about having a public/social hot issue being used to promote a product, namely a television channel.....
- Mimio0
The same. It's ernest in it's attempt to depict reality and not shape it. I take it on good faith that it's journalistically motivated.

now that i get it it's inappropriat to impose some sort of made up vote on a touchy subject like this...are they from some sort of actual vote or is it just for the ad?
and personally i really don't like putting immigrants, illegal or otherwise, in the context of criminals but i'm not about to launch into a discussion about that
- ********0
I hadn't even realised it was about immigrants, but in that case the "Now in America" tagline is all the more provocative.
well done bbc.

"I take it on good faith that it's journalistically motivated."
right. on good faith?
so sony should basically shut up and any (commercial) tv channel can advertise like this under the excuse of journalism??
- ********0
'now in america' is clever to say the least
- ********0
agreed khilled and mx.
it's right in your face. i am in the middle of this again..
but i lean towards applauding for this, for the same reasons as the SONY ad; starting debate right out there, on the streets.
instead of banners that only fill our heads with political correct rubbish that makes us intellectually numb.
imho.
