...but rule with music and video and want to start a serious and fast .com to promote and broadcast my work. I'll be working with a designer but I want to know wat to do to set it up good and proper.
I know you guys are awsome at this shit so basics first please... recomendations, advice?

i've always like dreamhost.
get a hosting package (they have some pretty good cheap ones) and a domain name. most of the time a domain name comes with the hosting package.
go basic dude. in this case peeps care about your music, not how intense of a flash site you have.

so essentially I register my domain names and pay someone like dreamhost 7.95/mnth for a server etc. that hosts the www.com right?
seriously i'm stupid at this...yes i'll be simple, check out my geocities i did the design and html, if anynoe watches even one of my video clips it exceeds the limit

yes khilled.
go to dreamhost. sign up. wait a few days until they transfer things over.
they might (and this may be a big guess here) even have a development tool to help you create a site.
