Name me some options. Serious and less serious ones. I don't expect any good advice here anyway.
Nothing design related please.
I don't mind doing work that i don't like as long as it will make me rich so i can live a selfish hedonistic materialistic lifestyle asap.
thanks.

i used to go out with a guy in notting hill called wog who ran guns for a living until he started importing rugs.
he's got these mad rugs from afghanistan with ak47s and grenades woven into the design.

speaking from experience.
I was sick to the back teeth of web design 3 years ago, so I travelled for a bit, worked in Australia as a Digital Art Director for a couple of big agencies. Travelled a bit afterwards too.
I quickly realised (with a bit of perspective) that what the problem was, was just doing 4 month websites that sapped by enthusiasm.
It was the company not the job. I really enjoy working in the big ad agency environment now. I find I am really enjoying my work and as a result i'm producing better work, i get to have input into tv, radio, print as well as web.
Also Ad agencies pay a lot more. I'm earning somewhere around 50k in London, and you can see that if I work hard I'll get paid more, and I can see job positions above me to aim for, which for me is always important.
I was going to do house rennovations or importing and exporting but once I started doing that, I realised I love designing and being creative. I get a real kick out of it, especially as I am getting paid more :)
Grass isn't always greener....
not sure there was any advice there.... :)

good advice, kezz. As always.
it is indeed the fact that (good) design that is extremely undervalued that makes me sick to my stomach. indeed if i get paid properly i would probably find more motivation working as a designers. but even the top design agencies pay like shite and are no fun to work IMHO.
i could check out ad agencies indeed.
thanks kezz!

interesting thread. I've been in design for 5 years now. Mainly Flash... so basily Ihave to pigeon hole myslef as a flash designer cos thats all I have to show for it. But Im pretty sure I dont want to be sitting in front of my computer for the rest of my life and cant quite figure out how Im going to move into other areas.
