what it is in an outward manifestation of their pain. you see, their "shit" is all "torn up" because their fathers didn't love them enough, and girls think their weird, and the local comic book store closed, and so on.
can you imagine their pain? can you truely feel it? it's their way of tell you "i am really dark and brooding because i am sad all the time." they can say all that with nothing more then a dirty trench coat they inherited from their siblings.

I got one of those coats because they were extremely practical for travelling. You can't ruck for shit in them (althought the film suggests otherwise) but they fold away into a bag well, are good against rain and they make a make shift blanket.
That said, I bought it before the last two shitty movies and haven't been able to wear it since with out being stoned in the street.

I think a normal trenchcoat (ie. not latex, or shiny) is okay if you have the tall, dark, and handsome thing going for you (seriously), but otherwise you FAIL.
