hmmm, nice flash & interesting layout.
But I don't understand what the ornate elements have to do with 'sport'. Look at the gallery and compare the colors and high-tech gear seen in the imagery and compare them to the site... they don't relate much.
Being a long distance runner & cyclist myself, this site just doesn't do it for me.
Nice execution, but not-so-great concept.

looks cool, but like antonelli said, doesnt really scream triathlon. either way i think it looks great. makes me want to do another triathlon :D

yeah, it's different from other race sites - i know the market very well, i wanted the site to be totally different but maybe it didn't happen in a good way...

j_red it's easy to be bored with a well-worn aesthetic, esp. in your case as an enthusiast and designer.
I think the design is so bold it overshadows the photography and makes no reference to the activities that entrants are going to participate in. people enter races because they love the activities. The layout doesn't remind people how hard they might be.
(IMO) it doesn't need to be scrapped, just massaged.
