Hehe. So in short, you don't like any of it then Hello.
The text is Caps, and a fairly stark face to balance the card a little. The peacock feather makes it a tad feminine and I don't want it to look like it's for a cusion company.
As for the right aligned details, I don't see what the problem is. It would be very easy just to line everyting up on the left hand side but I prefer this use of the space.
I might take you up on the wording though. Cheers.

I'd take your type up a little, it's always best to have more space at the bottom than at the top. Doesn't look like it slipped during printing.
Might want to put in the international dialling code for your phone number maybe.

(Jan 13 06, 02:47)Aye, could be right about the bottom margin.
He's based in Invreness. Not too many international gigs from there. And the code would confuse the locals.

what's the font? if you've got different faces I'd change the weight for the details, for me they look a bit one-dimensional... I'd throw my hat in the left align ring too btw, though I know what you mean about use of space. I reckon the effect of the negative space would make up for that though...
Illustration looks good but part of me is thinking the feathers round the "eye" look a little clumsy (I often see things different in print that on screen though, the weight of the illy could work really well for me there - sorry if that's nae help at all).
Good all round, nice and striking. I could see a polo-necked gentleman in NHS specs handing me that ;) I really like the choice of face (I just hope it has a "light" version)
:)
now find my font ya hoor.

skt. What does this guy actually do? ie What does Tailfeather audio do?
I like the idea of the peacock/tailfeather link.
I'll wait till I know what it is they do before commenting further
- kelpie0
haha, that's a good point, which in fact renders all previous ctritique redundant. damn! ;)

I would also like to see a folding over of the feather but also if not a folding over seeing the complete feather would be simply delovely.
I also am not swollen about the type.
- kelpie0
mate, if it doesn't pass the chossy Swell Test, you're fucked...

Tailfeather Audio is Scott Peacock. He's a sound engineer. Sets up gigs and does a bit of studio work. Part time, and he is poor as a church mouse. (this is a free gig so I can't buy fonts for it).
Chossy, I do like the idea of the feather coming over the edges, but it is cropped on all four sides which makes it difficult. The illustration is stronger cropped than when you see it whole (You will just have to trust me on that).
The font is Franklin Gothic Medium Condensed. I do have Demi Condensed so I might have the title and name in that, then the details in medium.
Just so you know, the design is a play on the name only, not the job.
- kelpie0
I wouldn't fatten any of the type personaly, but if you can find a lighter gothic that'll sit alongside yer Franklin, I'd use it on the numbers etc...
- chossy0
kelpie knows his fonts cause he gave me a row for liking ariel black :( and anybody who has the balls to doubt anything I do ever must be a guru of some sort.
- kelpie0
hahaha, guess what? I never got a christmas card as a result ;)

I was thinking that the 'eye' of the peacock tail could be made to look more like a speaker cone. That way you get a bit of what he does in there too. Obviously it should be an extra 'gift'. If you see it that's good but it shouldn't be too obvious to everyone.

by the way, nice scaling image!
- kelpie0
act on that with caution though, eh? could just as easily turn down the dark side of cheesy...
- Baskerville0
exactly. It should be handled with subtlety or it would be shit.
btw I assume the company is called Tailefeather Audio because of his surname. It's not just a coincidence.

(Jan 13 06, 04:20)Eh?
The speaker cone might be worth a play though. Will do a little more at the weekend. Maybe.
- chossy0
yeah and the lines fo the feather should be like phono cables, and the main branch of the feather should be a mic stand, then make the type out of instruments.
right I was only having a laugh I like the idea of the speaker being part of the peacocks eye, something subtle and shaded would be lovely, adding a bit of depth to it.

(Jan 13 06, 04:34)chossy, i assume this passage is nearly grammatically correct because of coincidence? it's not just you trying?
