I too feel your pain. Everytime I go to my parents house i have to spend at least three hours "fixing" their computer. My uncle, a Windows geek, always is yelling it's because they don't know what they are doing. He comes by and installs pop up blockers, anti-virus shit, adware killers, deleting temp files, internet cache files, ...etc.
Nice to know you have "to know what your doing" just to surf the web and check email without problems.
For my mom's birthday I bought her a mac mini. She turned it on, got on the web, and not a problem since. So far she has made family albums in iphoto, created home movies in imovie, has all her calendars synced ...etc.
not fixing shit this holiday.
YES.

sounds like someone tried to uninstall norton. norton is pretty strong and you can't easily uninstall it. goto msconfig and turn off norton at startup.

(Nov 23 05, 06:49)yup Randd, that's through the blue door, not the red door, up 4 flights of steps, turn right then left then right again, twice, then down a floor in the lift till you get to a long corridor with 4 doors on either side.
Don't go down there.
Turn left carry along till the fire hydrant then round the corner down a bit up a bit left right right left through the double doors and it's on your left past the temp files...
couldn't be simpler :)

...the old Rand would know what to do.

I do feel your pain in the sense that my brother and I are always having to fix our parents' and other relatives' computers. It's quite frustrating, because you know you're going to have to fix something sometime soon after you finish up fixing one thing, but at the same time you realize that you HAVE to help out because there's no way your parents/older ppl/relatives are going to be patient enough to understand how to fix their own damn computers.
