Man, I tell you, it gets me excited. I've just decided that I'm saving up to buy a ticket to fly to Tokyo in August to stay with a friend who lives there now. I'm pumped. Going to stay for 10 days.

I'll be staying with my friend, he moved there in August and teaches english. He loves it, he's not coming back any time soon.
With 10 days there, I'm hoping we can take the train way out of the city, maybe stay somewhere else for a night. Go to Mt. Fuji.
I'm really excited, lots of money to save but I've made up my mind. Chance I can't pass up.

good stuff! and no, you can't pass something like that up.
I actually climbed Mt.Fuji-san while i was there..stayed in a posh little hotel at the base of it by the lake the night after (during the climb, there's no ropes or anything..it's more of a hike..but god damn, it takes a while and the little places you sleep in on the mountain since it takes almost a day to do..well they suck.) ..wouldn't trade it for anything though. have fun bud! :)

hoping I can find an inexpensive ticket. It will be over the summer, I've read it rains alot in July. If I could in July and go to the Fuji Rock Festival, that would be awesome.
Tickets look to be around $1,100, but my friend said I should be able to get one for around $800. I've seen several flights that are on a 777, that would rule.

ps i lived in japan for a couple years, all in the north - never made it further south of asagirikougen which is at the base of Fuji.
if you're going in the summer all of the matsuri are in august - so amazing.
