I quoted $1500 for a logo design and the guy thought i was over charging. He told me he usually pays $500 for a logo.
He said he'll use someone else, which is fine. Now thinking about it, i'm really pissed off. First off, it was my design that got him the contract that i'm quoting for! Second he asked me to do all these changes during the pitch phase for a lousy $100. At least 8 hours of revisions.
I'm upset that i've worked with this guy for a few years now and a lot of times he's asked me to lower my prices because the client can't afford things.
Do you think i should tell him off or what? What is the most professional way of saying fuck you ass wipe?
I was thinking about going back to working full time because i hate dealing with cheapos like him.
He always has constant work for me but it's never huge amount because he's cheap and i think he outsource most of the work and keeps the majority of the money.

i think its fair to just say you can no longer work with him because his budgets are too low and as professional designer of you're not going to sell yourself short... its not worth it.
come work with us at Switch!... I heard you came in for a meeting a little while ago.

I am kind of sauced so you might want to ignore this. BUT if you have had business of him in the past then maybe you should reconsider. $500 is fucking cheap though. But maybe you can cover your costs elsewhere. A repeat customer is always good to have.

His name aint Matt Luce is it? lol
Tell this guy to go fook man! Had a guy like that, worked solid for two weeks (weekends included) on a 40 page corporate magazine. Was told id be gettin £25 an hr for it. Did I fook! ended up bein payed £500
Then he avoided payin me a cheque of £1,500, took me to hunt him down and confront him about it, solicitor involved and all that crap!!
Dont wanna see the guys face ever again the tw@t!
Let it go dude take my example here, the guys a shitesteer. The experience will make you strive for better work and mulla.

I hate turning work away, but i think it's time to get moving.
Yeah i came in during thanksgiving. Catherine is cool and very nice lady. The work is great too, but i wished i had more time to look around and meet a few people.
I am not sure what type of work i want to get into. I told her i want to go back to work on big brands again. Besides there wasn't any offers, so i don't want to move to Vancouver and not have anything.
how are things there? You guys moving yet?

Try not to take it personally. This shit happens all the time. We had National Geographics questioning a bill from 6 months ago. Try your best to keep things professional no matter how much of a twat some people can be. It's tough, so just vent your anger on NT and you'll be fine. Ramble over.
*poof*
BTW, nice work chz and piperboy

wish i would have been around that day to meet you.

Never read your post properly but just realised I'd seen you on designate before. Give or take maybe 2 of them, it's a bit amatuer for your work no?
- piperboytoy0
That's cool, good luck with the move, i wished we could have met too.How long did you work at switch?
it seems like a great environment. I might send catherine an email before i go back to Toronto.

I don't really want to keep working for the guy, but i moved away to a small town last september and working at a place that doesn't pay well but have a good opportunity to do cool work.
anyway, i have lots of free time so i don't mind doing occasional work for the guy. Plus i'm moving back home in a month so i want some extra money for the move.
- piperboytoy0
thanks for all your advice! great to have cool people to help in troubled times!
yeah definitely, she's a really nice lady, I've never had a boss that was easy to talk to as her. It's hard to think about the future right now, just want to organize myself in one place and chill.

Take his picture and publish online. Let everyone know this crap ass :D
I remember someone did that before for "not paying design fee"

sounds like you are getting screwed over piper
chris i didnt know you were at switch now...sweet...
- piperboytoy0
i know i'm getting screwed. we just got the contract 2 days ago and i have the photoshop files. it will take him days to reproduce the same file because i did some work on the image.
I want to let him know about my greivances before i do any work. Do you think i have the upper hand now? I really don't care if our work relationship is fucked because i don't plan to do anymore work for him at all.
- jevad0
sounds like you have the upper hand mate
be frank with him - tell him what is bugging you - if he does nothing then you'll know he's a cock
