no competition at all!

no competition but most ppl don't know how to use Paint, let alone Photoshop.

I suck at MSpaint
- adamfinger0
Oh, excuse me...there is VIRTUALLY no competition.

I preordered the video, hopefully it's as good as college girls gone wild!

my office just got CS2 and MM8. Both of them are worth it. The upgrade for dreamweaver is really nice since I build with CSS. The design view doesn't blow up anymore.
Grafholic, also please send me info on getting mm8 if you can. I would love to have it for home.
- mg330
Only thing I use by MM is Dreamweaver 4. I have Flash 5, can't remember the last time I used Flash though.
Wish I had upgraded before I was no longer able to.

i got hired to freelance at this great design studio about 4 years ago. i was stoked cause they were doing some unreal work.
i went to open photoshop and 'beep'... 'there is another photoshop running with this serial number on your network'. huh!?
so i talk to the art director and for 15 designers they have 1 photoshop that multiple serial numbers had been entered and running. guess only 13 people could have it open at once and after that #s started to overlap.
that place was straight fucked.
i'm perfectly happy with my later versions of programs.
i got cs and the new macromedia suite here at work and it's nothing special.
- mg330
I've got the CS Suite at work and use PS and InDesign plenty.
I've actually never worked with Illustrator, ever. Would like to though. For illustrative things I do, PS has just the right amount of tools, so it's what I prefer.

this thread makes no sense...

You don't steal software because its "cool" or because you're "addicted" to stealing it. Every designer I've ever known who has had to "borrow" the software is doing so because they are f-ing broke and have more important things to spend money on first....like food and rent and school loans, etc....they can barely afford those things, so how are they supposed to afford $1200 software? And, just for those morons out there who can't wrap their tiny brains around too much, the fact that you can't afford $1200 doesn't mean you suck at design. And I used the word "borrow" intentionally....because every designer I know without a legal copy is borrowing the software until they can reach a financial point where they can afford it 100% legit on their own. Once that time comes they will go legit. There are some talented people who are fucking poor out there. To me this is like Metallica's outcry against Napster and file-sharing.....CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER YOU RICH MOTHER FUCKERS!!!
P.S. - I am legit, I just hate when rich individuals or corporations get cry baby-ish about not becoming EVEN RICHER....like people who download a couple of Metallica songs or have a free copy of Adobe software are stealing food right out of their kids mouths....boo hoo hoo. Oh, what, you can't afford to get Tina her Bentley for her sweet 16th....how will she ever live? Oh, your bonus this year will only be 4.5 million instead of 4.7 million......OH MY LORD, I AM CONCERNED FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELL BEING......we should fill out some forms and seek government financial assistance for you before its too late. Give me a break.
Those who are legit, great! Those who aren't because they are poor and will be legit as soon as they can afford to be.....GREAT!!!

My new bumper sticker.

totally agree with you designaked, but other posts in this thread seem to say that adobe shouldn't use this kind of measure to protect their software from piracy.
- mg330
well said designaked.
the adobe sack part too.
- foreign0
if they do that you'll have to find another way of learning the software and starting out; student lisence, etc.

The "adobe sack" was kOna.
I agree with companies working to protect their investment.
That Adobe site comes across as VERY "poor us" / crybaby-ish to me. I have no sympathy for CEOs / Board Members / etc / etc.
Maybe to help things on multiple fronts they could set up a Hardship Program where by you could either pay in installments or get a reduced price based on current income.
