Trying to decide if I want to neuter my 5 1/2 month old puppy.
thoughts?

I volunteer at the Humane Soceity every week. If you would see the sheer number of loving animals that are destroyed each day cause people ask this question, you wouldn't even ask it.
Also your animal will live a healthier life nuetred or spayed, my wife is a vet, and that is a fact.

Sorry for the tone of my response, but I feel very strongly about this.

well if he's a little nut case it might calm him down a bit. Or if he could become aggrressive it might be a good idea.
only reason not to is if you were to breed him which isn't that cool anyway.

do it while he's still young to avoid the wive's tale from the above poster

ya I don't plan on breeding him. It's just hard to imagine them chopping off the poor guy's balls.

You damn sure better get your dog neutered.
Son of a bitch how do people still ask that question...
I'm with lucky on this one. And I am blatantly opinionated on this subject.

(Nov 14 05, 10:55)where is your wife a vet at if you don't mind me asking?
reason being i'm thinking of taking my cat to the vet for a checkup/shots and want to go to a good place. i've heard good things about the wheaton animal hospital but thought i'd ask if she worked at a place better.

nevermind the social conscious... if it's a male get it neutered... it'll prevent problems later on, and he'll be happier (ironically); if it's a female and you don't want pups.

There's two sides to this ethical coin.

Kona,
She works at Naperville Animal Hospital, they are good - Also, closer to you is DeNada Animal Hospital and they are top notch, wife tried to get a job there first, hint hint.

... or set a curfew and make sure he's never alone with female dogs, and if it has to happen be sure to talk to him and make sure he uses a condom.
- dbloc0
Ha Haaa...
Can I Train My Dog To Put It On Himself?
No, the dog will require human intervention each time he wishes to put on or take off a condom.
- foreign0
"each time he wishes"...
foo.. get over here... the bitch ain't gonna wait all day!
- radar0
they are meat scented, hahaha. Thats an accident waiting to happen.

What About Female Condoms for Bitches?
We recognize that birth control is the responsibility of both partners, and we are currently working on a prototype of a condom for female dogs. However, we don't expect it to reach the market until 2007.

dont neuter your pet he will be depressed 4 life like my cat is we avoided this with our dog. I think its stupid if he dies from not being neutered then thats life. would u want this done to you by aliens?
anyway dont do it your pet will lose its character.
