I still remember discovering K10k in 99, before I moved to London... One of the sites that opened my eyes to the design world "out there".

I miss the old days right at the end of the dot-com boom and then the crash... these sites were great. Although now after working in the field for a decade I realize this is such a tiny sliver of the community in our world :)

what fletcher said..
back in 00/01 I was on a forum called: Where Here... some of peeps who I "met" on that board are now big design studio's. I still have contact with some of them. we were always fucking around with shane & eric (2A) good times!

Reboot...

I was 20/21/22... 21 when I found H73, which went to Newstoday. Then there was o8. Funny to see those people, on Facebook now with kids. I run into them from time to time through work. Sort of funny. Now it seems like the community is just more through conferences and stuff. I think I did an NT drinks in Seattle once, but don't remember who I met :/

Also, it's interesting to see how newstoday/qbn is still going strong... and it's mostly down to the forum.

glad to see there are others that have the same affinity for this site that I do. k10k didn't have much going on for the past several years, but it was my introduction to design 12 years ago, I watched it closely and owe it a lot.

k1ok was really the first form of blogging I ever seen
on the internet.

outdated content, laziness, not worth visiting.

It's all about either #1 having a thriving community or #2 being consistent throughout time and keep posting new content. QBN relies mostly on #1 and that keeps this thing going.

their mojo was taken along with their .com
