TWAT?!? I CUNT HEAR YOU? BEAR ASS ME AGAIN?

Why the iPod, the Walkman has been out for decades and I can still hear...damn I'm old!
- Mattiadesign0
Huh! Really? You are going to eat lunch now?
- visualplane0
There's some scientist doing a research if the iPod causes insanity from hearing a shitload of music over again.
- nopublik0
i'm already deaf lol
- aliendn0
i agree, there's a statistic that says 90% of ipod morons listen to the same 20 albums over and over.
but about the hearing loss thing, yeah it concerns me...ipods/mp3 players i believe are being played WAY more than walkmans/cd players in the past because of the convenience of how small they are and the vast access to music available at your fingertips.
i mean nothing beats listening to "been caught stealing" when you're in the grocery section, looking around and then shoving a watermelon up...
but for real, i've been trying to listen to music lower, but when that tune comes on u tend to listen on full blast

It's probaly true, I know I listen to my Ipod at least 10 times more then I ever listened to a walkman.

it is not specifically the presence of a new player over the walkman, but the mentality of people changed as they were able to carry tons of hours of music in a tiny box. Some people have that thing on their heads from almost like a whole day.. and that causes the problem!

It also has to do with distortion ratios... loud music alone will not make you deaf. in fact listening to loud music through really nice, low distortion headphones is, while not a brilliant idea, not so very bad for you... listing to loud music trough crap headphones (or worse, earbuds) with loads of distortion, now that'll make you deaf.
If you're really worried about it invest in a nice set of headphones, preferably ones that cup your ear, not go in your ear (unless you are going to pay the big$$ for custom made) ....

-------------------imagine how stupid the 90% of the 90% is then ;P
got myself an iriver, comes with FM, superior sound, i can watch family guy, south park episodes on it,view pics, text files, i can record instruments into mp3s @ 320Kbps, and its heavy enough to fling at ipod owners. it doesnt do my taxes through. but its cheaper than the ipod
oh ps: it functions as portable harddrive, plug it in and its recognized as removable storage.
iriver plug over.

(Sep 14 05, 09:12)You dont need to plug it too me. There are several (better) mp3 players out there. I dont really like the design of the iPod.

I apologize for correcting you , Crouwel, but it's simply listening to headphones, not listening to ipods, that are harming people's hearing.
:) It's just one of my biggest pet peaves when people quote a headline and mess up the point of it. In fact, the word "ipod" is used only once in the article.
Anything - ipod, creative zen mp3 player, Walkman, CD player, record player - through headphones for extensive time will harm your hearing.

holding iPods will make hair grow in the palms of your hand.
