k, jazx, i thought you were being a smartass.
i am pretty pissed off... couldn't work all day and this'll prolly cost me an insane amount of cash! :''((
i just tried my disk in this mac of a friend where i am now.. and it did not work either, it made lots of terrible noises on startup though..
will diskwarrior be of any use then?? (thx for the tip!)
but will it be of any help at all?can anyone tell me in what kind of cases diskwarrior may help?
also: someone here told me that data-recovery(in a lab with people in white suits..you know) may cost up to 1500 or even 1750 euro !!!!!
is this true? :(

see 3 or 4 posts back. i need to know for 75% sure if it is worth the investment..
does it help at all if it makes noises at startup and is totally invisible??
- BonSeff0
if it is making noises at startup and is invisible, i fear you might be in for bad news.

could someone please ask one of them to check back to this thread? i have no other means right now!!! thx!!
- BonSeff0
i wouldnt try to reboot again until you hear from gruntt/sputnik. do you have an apple store there?
- -sputnik-0
ack...just saw this message!
well it sounds as if you're having a hardware issue if you can't even mount the drive. diskwarrior will help recover corrupted or previously deleted files and fix other problems, but if it can't see the drive you are probably in need of a hardware person.
sorry crouwel, i hope it works out.

Crouwel, the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago and I took the disk to a data recovery lab. I got all the information back but it cost me over 2000 euros. It's expensive but I learned my lesson. Always back up your stuff.

ummm...let me email mayo. wait.
- BonSeff0
the clicking noise is the reader arm slamming against the disk
- -sputnik-0
btw - if i don't answer a post fast enough, please feel free to email me anytime. i get those quickly.
i'll also look around at home for a copy of discwarrior. if i have it, i'll be happy to share.

bonseff, no apple center anywhere near here..
there's one repair center about 70 miles from here, who i could visit but they only check it on other systems, they dont do the recovery at all, they can forward it to a lab that does this..
is it really that insanely expensive????
fuck this disk, i'll never buy MAXTOR ever again!!!!
this is so incredibly fucked, ALL my administration and work and running projects..
i could seriously shoot myself now.. >:'(
