Any foreign Nationals (particularly Oztralians) applied for a driving license here by exchanging your Oz one?
Could you use the post office to site your docs before sending them in, I am loathe to send in my passport as It has my perm residency stamp in it, and I dont want the hassle of losing it.
- nicko0
.. and that perm res stamp will now cost you £500 when you need a new one or renewal!
My wife just renewed hers, it used to be free but now it's an arm and a leg!

Cost me £250.
In ocober I can apply for the full passport. Get to sit an 'English' exam, fopr the right royal piss-off fee of £50.
But back to the point in question.....

yeah, got all the forms. Just want to avoid sending in the passport.
Can I use the form-check thing at the post office, if i don't have a British passport?
- paraselene0
haha! i love how this thread is all questions and no answers. sorry, brocket. that's bureaucracy for you? do you happen to be the pseudonym of another young chap who takes his name from a wes anderson film and has been seen on nt from time to time? or is that just a quinky-dink?
- vespa0
sorry timbo i have no idea.
i went to the post office about 5 years ago to get the forms, got confused by all the bureaucracy and never went back, so i'm clearly not qualified to give you any advice!
- ********0
he eh e..yeah, I wil work it out. And no doubt it will be a pain in the arse.
And yes parselene, I am one and the same.
- vespa0
haha glad to know i'm not the only one confused by bureaucracy at the post office! i remember being astounded that they didn't take cards at the PO when i first got here, at least that has changed!

oi timbo do you know john wisolith and ken leung? had welcome to london/sorry your leaving london drinks with them recently, saw justin greenwood too now there's a face from the past, he looks EXACTLY the same!
- ********0
Justin said he caught up with you, we have been good friends for a number of years. And yes, he's still the same.
News on the Drivers licence front. You must send in your passport in order to exchange your Oz licence for a UK one.
The odd thing is, to become a British National, I can merely photocopy it and get that copy authorised by a solicitor.
Maybe dirving is considered a more important issue than immigration in this country.
