malaysia suggestions?

we fly into singapore and then are going to be in malaysia for a month. We want to do fun things, etc. any suggestions?

Be extra vigilant if travelling in eastern Sabah and avoid altogether the islands off Sabah's east coast, including Sipadan and Pandanan, as there is a risk of kidnapping and terrorist attacks, particularly targeting foreigners.
As for things to do - it depends how dirty you want to get.
I highly reccomend visiting the Langkawi Islands

heres my thoughts..
in kuala lumpur
-china town (Petaling Street)
-the mosque and park outside the petronas twin tower building is nice
-if your looking for electronics/software or stuff like that the best place would probably be imbi plaza or low yat...http://www.thingsasian.com/goto_…
the only other place i have been in malaysia is kota kinabalu and its surrounding islands. its of the peninsular malaysia in sabah but not the dangerous part. it has some great beaches and snorkeling if you like that stuff. probably my favorite island is manukan island. hope that helps have a good trip.

i didn't find Malaysia that exciting. i don't recommend Penang, it's got a few nice old colonial buildings and a monkey or two but apart from that i was thoroughly bored.

im a graphic designer working in avenue K opposite KLCC.
to shop : KLCC, avenue K, Bukit Bintang, Chinatown, Central Market.
to drink and dance: around KL, Zouk (walking distance from KLCC), Bangsar.
to sunbath on the beach: Pangkor Island, Redang Island, Perhentian Island (out of KL, can easily take a bus from Puduraya, KL)

a month! definitely spend weeks cruising the islands like Redang Island, Pangkor Island or yeah Langkawi sounds fun too.
Kenya Dam and the National Park's fun to get down and dirty too.
Depending on what you want to experience really, 3 days or less would be more than enough to tour the city (Kuala Lumpur). Unless of course if you want to do lots of shopping/partying!

MALAYSIA
Avoid spending masses of time in KL, two days tops will cover it.Spend loads of time visiting other places:
You can catch a ferry from Tanah Merah in S'pore to take you to Tioman island which is beautiful and the diving is awesome.
Go to the Cameron Highlands to see tea plantations and v lovely scenery and Genting if a bit of gambling floats your boat.
We stayed at Pangkor Laut on the W coast of the penninsula in April. It was fabulous. Note diving / snorkelling = less impressive on the W coast.
Go to Langkawi and avoid Penang.
SINGAPORE
Must do's:
- Visit the night safari
- Eat at hawker centres (Lau Pa Sat is good and tourist friendly, Newton Circus if you feel more adventurous
- Visit the musical fountains at Sentosa (at night)
- Visit the botanical gardens and consider eating at the restaurant 'Halia' (you won't regret it)
- Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street are interesting
- Visit Fort Canning Park
- Visit Merlion Park
- If you like architecture go see the theatres on the bay at the Esplanade
- Eat chilli crab at a hawker centre (Ang Mo Kio has a good one though I can't remmeber where!)
- Have a gin sling at the Long Bar at Raffles hotel, oh and say hello to my nephew who works as a waiter at the Tiffin Room!Enjoy.

Genting highlands casino you can catch the monorail from KL good place to to cool down and get your dice blown.

Rave party in genting highlands will be great, but not sure if there's any coming soon. genting is a place up a mountain, pretty boring unless you like to visit a casino, hotel room rates are decent, food pretty expensive thought, can easily go there with a bus from the last LRT station in gombak.
KL is just to shop and party, oh yes. im sick of this little city myself :p
