I have a strange question -
If you came across something, artwork, a t-shirt, etc. that had been publicized in a local paper or elsewhere, and you had strong negative feelings about it, is it totally wrong to write an anonymous email to that person telling them why you didn't like it and telling them how bad it is?Because I'm thinking about doing that. I want to write an anonymous email to this guy who was featured in a local paper. In so many words, I want to say, "Stick to copywriting, because your typographic and illustration skills leave much to be desired."
The reason? He used Comic Sans on a a t-shirt whose concept was abysmal in the first place. I want to tell him that font should never be used, ever, but that a better font still wouldn't rescue the bad concept. (After all, he's selling this shirt, so pointing that out may help sales! :D )So, would I be a jerk, or should I smile because I'd have done my part to promote good design?
LOL

I think if your going to 'call someone out' you shouldn't do it while hiding behind the protection of anonymity.
- version30
why be anonymous?
are you ashamed of your opinion?i wouldnt give two shits about an anonymous remark but someone not trying to hide anything is worth the time to read and respect an opinion, whether I agree with it or not
- Mimio0
It wouldn't hurt.
- mg330
Well, it's not entirely anonymous, I've got a few yahoo accounts with fictitious names.
Some stranger doesn't know my name really isn't Manteno Montenegro.

if you knew the person and they asked you 'what do you think about this t-shirt i designed' then i would say tell em
otherwise ... no
imagine if someone saw you walking down the street and said ... excuseme, i know a lot about fashion and your shoes and belt combo are just hideous. what were you thinking?? also .. lose like 15 pounds. k?
just seems rude and uncalled for. IN MY OPINION.
(hehe .. you asked)
- ********0
do you equate his bad design with some moral failing?
- ********0
i agree with sali
- mg330
But salisae in some way isn't that being a good samaritan?
An endeering social figure like that might one day eclipse Santa Clause in terms of popularity.

i'm with salasie... if someone sent me an email like i would just laugh.
and then cry for the person who sent it.
- _salisae_0

- mg330

As a young arrogant designer, keeping my mouth shut is really hard. But being humble and modest is more valuable than being "right" most of the time.

use that youthful energy by doing something positive, like bleaching your bunghole
- mg330
Hahahaha Rand.
So, onto a better question:
If you were going to do what I suggested, anonymously, what alias would you use?
- ********0
salisae
- mg330

adios, till tomorrow!
