At what point?

In the balancing act of quitting your job, there seems to be two sides, leave immediately, or stay until something else comes up.
Quitting your job without something to go, throws you into the position where it could be finacially idiotic for you to leave, so by leaving, you are actually punshing yourself.
Whereas staying, also punshes you by runing you mental health and undermining your confidence.
Usually the balance starts in favour of staying until something comes up, but at what point do you usually decide to leave because staying is so much worse than actually having no money and nothing coming in?

oh man that sounds nasty Bottlerocket
unless they are turning you into a bitter gibbering wreck, you should probably stay and go to interviews at the same time.
if, however, they are turning you into a bitter gibbering wreck (that has happened to me before, believe) then leave asap and plant chicken carcasses under the floorboards before you go

Everyone has their own threshold, find you'rs and u shall be free. And what is more, you shall be a man my son ;)

get a job first.
it's easier to get another job when you already have one than when you don't.
It's like getting a new girlfriend.
You can always attract more women when you are involved than when you are single.
they sense the desperate urges you have, or the smell of 'wank' if you will.
Erm.. I think I may of gone off topic a little there...

thinking about having an affair soda?
i'd advise against it. Sure sex with a new person is always an exciting adventure, thrilling if you will. But at what cost i ask u? At what cost??!!
please excuse my nonsense today.

awww soda i was just messing. don't be mad at me. i'll make you a cup of chai?
oi Bottlerocket
I've devised a handy "How Shit Is My Job?" litmus test, just for you.
ask yourself the following questions:
when asked to choose between going for a social drink with colleagues and eating your own flesh, would you choose the latter?
does the idea of designers who genuinely enjoy their job fill you with cynical laughter and the desire to stab people with a sharpened pencil?
when presenting work to seniors or clients, do you pick fights with them over the exact pantone reference of "powder blue"? or do you agree with them about everything and in fact point out everything that's shit about your work before they can even comment?
if the answers to all the above are "yes", and you have enough money in the piggy bank to be out of work for a month, then leave and get yourself another job. Otherwise save your pennies until you have said cash.

yes, yes, yes.
But everyone has a different threshold. Nothing is REALLY that bad, is it?
- soda0
it depends on if you are the sort of person who can motivate yourself when you are in work to do more personal stuff, get your portfolio online and start looking for jobs.
Or if you think you need being unemployed to get the above sorted?
Be honest with yourself.
As for you Vespa I have been trying to think up a witty mature response to your comment....I may smell of wank my dear but you smell of poo poo.
so there.
*flicks vespas bra strap
- vespa0
ouch! *flicks soda's colostomy bag strap* TAKE THAT YA SLAG!
sorry for the interruption Bottlerocket.
yep, things can get that bad.but what's your situation? tell us what makes you want to leave.
*pulls up chair and beckons Bottlerocket to therapist couch

I would always wait until I had a job to go to. Or if I knew I had to get out of there before I killed a man then I would save some money up and leave once I knew things would be groovy finantially.
- imakedesign0
the point is when you can no longer resist the erge to stab your co-workers with your pocket pen knife.
thats a good point to leave.
- soda0
i'm at that point right now.
just hanging around until I buy a house. Things are so tight with my mortgage application I can't afford to change jobs befor it all goes through.
IF it all goes through...
- thenuge0
you could also slack off until they fire you and then you can get unemployment. its a tough go. i recently changed jobs, i've been at the new one for a litte over two months and everyday i think...i gotta get out of here!

if your life were a sitcom you'd be bold and quit the job .. freak the fuck out for 10 minutes .. get on the ball for 7 and have the perfect job by the end of the half hour.
