most of the lists should be standard as far as punk goes... planes mistaken for stars i wouldnt call punk, but they rule nonetheless. here are some more modern underground / some not so underground punk bands:

I was trying to explain punk to my indian roomie (who is a doctor and has an expected image to uphopld) and after listening to a ton of old lps I had, he loves the old stuff. Ramones, s.p., husker du, minutemen, the works. He goes to work the next day and tells his collegues that he's been listening to punk and it turns out they all listen to the classics. This is a little fight clubbish, but can you imagine the underlying social unrest in our medical community?
