schools are about to be a
trend now, or have they been
forever...anyway
them kids got some good work

Who cares anymore ?
I see just as much killer work by self taught youngsters.
You only REALLY need to go to school to learn design, learning the tools can can be done on your own.

art school is WAK.....
- superbaka0
school should only teach craft and process.. it takes a lifetime to learn culture, history, and design.
- vealemoble0
also would be nice if schools had good teachers lol

calarts has been producing great artists for a very long time. gwen stefani's brother, eric, went there over a decade ago. he was my mentor and totally turned me on to doing art in the entertainment industry. he let me hang out in his studio when i was a kid. he was an art director on the simpons after he quit writing and playing in no doubt. his personal stuff blew me away. last i saw he was working on a traditional 2d animated feature length film called chicks and hicks... totally hand inked and painted cell by cell and shot. farking great! i know i'll have to bump this later cos nobody is going to read this.

good friend of mine graduated from CalArts a year ago and is doing really well. 3D animation is what he studied and now hes working at Dreamworks.
Everytime I visited him there would be some new amazing peice of artwork that one of the students had done and hung in their dorm.
From what I saw it was a really solid school.
