i don't know how relevent this is, but according to the US census, in 2002, "13% of the civilian noninstitutionalized population were black".
just sayin.
we're all people. who gives a fuck what we look like? but the shirt if it looks cool.

nopattern
you're not black
& what complaint are you talking about?
- ********0
i just hate when people downplay this whole issue, it is still very real to date. today.
i'm not faulting threadless, for not choosing blackpeople to be models, i could care less,
i just know the world we live in, i go and anytime i get in this mood, turn the tv just to see how many blacks i'll count
its always like 2 or 3...lol
to me its rediculous, and the only way it will change is if people keep saying something about it
and i only say 'black' because thats me, but i'm also native american, and oh boy
we dont really have to get in to that...its just too much

here's one more example i'll give and i wont argue w/ any of you after i say this,
this is one of the reason, i am so militant now & why it sticks w/ me so much,
when i worked at mbna for 3 years doing every thing i could as far as graduating levels to possibly move on to a better job, w/ more benefits
2 black managers pulled me over at seperate times and told me, son, yes they called me son, you will not be able to move unless you cut your hair, and look like them, they only want you if you conform to how they see fit.
i see every outlet in this world being the same way
so when we get a chance, ie applebottom or fubu, 2 of which i will not endorse, we have to go for self, imagine if fubu used white folk [which they do] like abercrombie did, you wouldnt know it was black
anyway
this is only a personal struggle i'm dealing w/, the post again was a joke, i thought you all may laugh about or say, hey, you're right son, we need more black people, or we need more of every other person that lives on this earth...
blah
at least i aint complainin how 2A are too fuckin trendy
ps. i am not a racist, just a militant soldier in an ongoing army that will soon overthrow this prejudice government.

son, you're right, there still is an inbalance as far as media goes. but then again, where are all the fat people at?
although, i do think that in North America we've come leaps and bounds in the past 50 years as far as embracing African American culture goes. and sure, there are still fucked up things goin on [rodney king, amadou diallo, etc] but we're still moving forward. and instead of conforming to the stereotypes like you've done in this thread, go out and make some dope shit that makes us go 'damn'. go be the next jean michel basquiat or whoever you wanna be. i always liked what tiger woods says when he's asked about being the best black golfer 'i don't want to be known as the best black golfer, i want to be known as the best golfer, period.'
merry xmas

i think that people cant have a conversation about something this touchy w/o saying the 'topic' is irrelevant or distasteful.
i think people live in a certain position for so long they think its that sweet for everyone
but oh well
all hail the have nots
- nopattern0
but here's the problem son. you initiated this conflict with the example of threadless. let me remind you, since i worked at threadless for several months, that they happen to have 0 black employees. does that make them racist? no. does that mean they aren't considering their black audience? no.
it means that when they get their shirts delivered to the warehouse door, they take one out, grab their cameras, and take pictures of someone who is working there that day in it. you picked a very, very poor example. you've got a much deeper problem and conflict than being irritated with some clothing companies. and if thats the case, you should address it as such.
in fact, this IS irrelevant in the specific scenario you were trying to push your point with.
what nick said about tiger. "dont want to be the best black golfer, i want to be the best golfer, period." seems as though you are the one who is seeing colors as a division.

stupid piece of crap commerce system they have doesn't verify my security code. crap!
- ********0
ummm
when people dig too deep, they end up falling out the back
best golfer, best designer, yea yea, just be the best, ok
but then when you exempt me, or any othere race for that matter i see it and will address it because it should not happen anymore
i know why people, say, oh you're the best black whatever the fuck, because they are proud...not for that person that is the best, no they shouldnt go around saying i'ma black whatever the fuck
but my point is
it shouldnt be a problem for me to joke about this type of thing even considering how very RELEVANT this is, to me
if not to you, dont reply, i dont reply in all your self promotion, this is irrelevant you already posted six other times, i dont criticize people who use myspace or any other blog even tho i think some of its corny, i dont judge people
i just point out situations, and threadless is no different then abercrombie
except they just dont have the money, and they have way better quality work.
and now the difference is, they still dont have black people and abercrombie does, but not only black, chinese, spanglish engrish purple and some aliens, but thats how it should be because thats the world we live in
but if threadless never uses a black person, doesnt mean i wont buy or support, i just hate to see it
i hate to see, 5=10 channels w/ different races, and 155 white.
i hate it
you're not black so you wouldnt know
and last thing
IT WAS A FUCKIN JOKE.

damnit first nick
now youi must be that entertaining
that you will reply to something
that said nothing about you...boredom is a sickness
idleness is a fools holiday
- nopattern0
don't get all serious, tell me i'm not black (no shit...), compare threadless to abercrombie, and say 'you hate to see it,' and then end the response with "it was a joke." i mean come on...really...
you're a good dude, and no i'm not black and i wouldn't know what your perspective is exactly, but it sounds assuming and a tad ignorant to me to go after a small company the way you are. even if you are, um, "joking." and for what it's worth...
