how about you guys go and make some giant anti-508 puppets and then parade them around?
Hey atomica, newspapers are available in brail or can be read using text reading software to vocalize printed material. Maybe just me, but I haven't seen a whole lot of blind people driving so I don't think the billboard argument applies either. Accessibility is rapidly becoming an enforced law. If a client wants to avoid any trouble with accessibility, suck it up and learn how to work with it.

I did some work for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and they had two sites - one graphical one (although with long descriptions on alt tags and everything thoughly complient to usability standards)-
One plain text for a reader known as JAWS which reads the text aloud.
That's how one makes websites for the VI (or blind).

i still can find no UK law info.. proposed or otherwise.
I've looked on numerous UK GOV sites and found fuck-all... It's not so much doing it - but finding legally how far I should go with it.

The RNIB see it right campaign is the benchmark. You can also check out all the info on:
It's a big issue that a lot of companies aren't taking into consideration. Once one big high street player gets done in court, everyone will rush to get their sites optimised.
We need to be ready for it. Start building sites out of CSS.
You can test sites for accessibility in Dreamweaver or use third party software like bobby.
The RNIB also offer an external audit for a fee (Massive).
It's not all bad news for design though. It can be done well. It also means more work and more revenue.
Here's one I prepared earlier...
P.S. Any tips for better accessibiliy welcome.
