What a joke. I think most of the "cheap" "discount" "lowest fares" websites out there are a total sham.
I'm getting tickets to fly to Texas in June, I should have gotten them over a month ago but that's beside the point.
Tickets through american airlines.com are actually cheaper than any of the top cheap fare web sites.
Some people I guess are just too stupid to realize that the cheap airfare sites are nothing but a collection of all the airfare prices out there and don't offer a discount at all.
I could scream!

Maybe most are a sham but I can vouch for Travel Zoo's Weekly Top 20 (www.travelzoo.om)
I found a 10 day r/t air+4star hotels to Bejing and Shanghai for $599usd. Was even better than I hoped.

it's not a sham, it's all about shopping around. if you're lucky and live near a major airport (more competition = better deals) you can make out like a bandit.

Orbitz, travelocity, etc... They can only offer lowest published fares. It's only when you start doing the bidding style of airline tickets (i.e. Priceline's original format) that you can get cheaper tickets. Otherwise read the small print, lowest published fare.

I've travelled extensively in my twenties. I never, ever, ever, ever have used a website for purchasing a ticket. It's a complete crock of sh*t. Make sure you meet a good travel agent and go through he or she. :)

I just booked myself a $30 flight to London. Even the discount airlines are fighting against eachother now. The cab ride alone to the airport is twice that :P
Moral = Europe is better.
