No problem...Do you have any work up at all. Let me know or shoot me an e-mail. I know of a few places I could steer you to on Oahu.

t, thanks for the heads up. I'm on Oahu, though... I'm here for support for sure, production artist and what not, all fair game, I'll shoot them an email. Mahalo. I'm reticent to be full on at the moment, I need to get my new site together first. I've had some interviews, and so far my old crap doesn't scare anybody, but you know how it is. You want to go in like Charles Bronson. Bang, bang, bang. So trying to chug along. At least there's some rain and wind, still hot though (Waikiki)

Eloosive - are you on Maui? If you are go talk to the guys at http://www.tradewindgraphics.com… they're looking for a guy to head up their Kauai office. Greg Hoxie is the guy you want to talk with.

I will admit, its been hard trying to start working on my portfolio here, besides you guys, interesting conversation, and going outside, its really hard. I wish I still waked and baked. Maybe less coffee.

Some entertaining points of view.
Born and raised on Maui. Kihei to be exact.
Did you know the only other place in the US that sells more artwork than Maui is New York?
p1xelfrog - that smell is from the natural wetlands south of the power plant. During the summer months the water dries up and the Tilapia fish die in the shallows.

this really has nothing to do with anything except for the connection with leis...
at a wedding last summer, we were all given leis at the reception and the drunk girl beside me went up to the priest and said 'hey father, i see you finally got leid.' haha

hey I will back you up there, fine fine ladies on the islands, I love my little hula girls!
My wife got pulled up on stage to hula at our luau, I was loaded, it was funny.
And yes I'm sure I will be back some day, like I said I enjoyed it, just couldn't ever live there.

Whew, I don't know. It might be the incinerator. They're really ecologically strict up in here. They don't really bury shit, they burn it. I would think its just as abad (atmosphere).
Supposedly, Maui is supposed to be competing with Oahu now for tourists. PLUS, they are spending more on infrastructure for High Tech. Like a San Francisco in '89. You never know, you might be back my friend. Maui learned from Oahu to diversify their economy more. The billionair japanese expats blew shit up in Oahu. But its nice to see their trendy hot daughters walking around! (Tee hee! Ko-Nichi-Wa! Hi-Hi!

too bad you didn't get screwed over in tahiti

1) Smash his lying face on the coral shore.
2) Go surfing to wash off the blood.

yeah I agree with you it's a limited view of the whole state, by judging the whole thing just from Maui.
and please don't get me wrong, I think it is totally beautiful, lots to do, if you like water, it just not really for me. Had a great time but don't really feel the need to go back, maybe in 10 years or so.
The food comment is true, the restaurants on Maui suck. I was expecting unbelievable sea food and it was all crap. oh well. San Fran restaurants rock the house by the way, but I don't like overly expensive dishes at all.
not down with watching college football at 6 AM either.
Hey what's the deal with that power plant just north of Kehei, I've never smelled something so foul, are they burning garbage?
:P

p1xelfrog may be right about Maui. Getting an impression of 'Hawaii' by going to Maui is like getting an impression of the whole of California by going to San Bernadino county. Poor and limited information.
He's also right about square footage, obviously in comparison to those other states. I know I just never felt compelled to go to Idaho or Montana, I wouldn't even hike for miles and hours on end anyway, through pine cone forrests with bears and mountain lions. No thanks. That's all cool like Mountain Dew, but, no. I know plenty of CA, and its big. How much elbo room can one need; or feel is there and ever use often enough? Not much, so a description of small is happlessly subjective.(whatever)
New York looks 'big' on TV, but strolling across it in a day, same diff.Food- if one doesn't like asian foods, well, you already have a problem. You know what Sushi is and not Kimchee, that could limit where to go. Hawaii has everything the mainland has, after all its the 50th state. McDonald's and Pizza Hut are here for your safety. There's just more to Hot Dogs and Hamburgers to these people, and the all Sizzler or Appleby's can't do a thing about it. I was happy to find a Mexican Restauraunt at Lahina Town Cannery, on Maui but you're right the waitresses are bitter. If you're the designer that rocks the $40 plates five star then SF, LA, Chicago, NY, Boston is what you want. Oahu does have a couple Mediterranean, Italian places, even a French, but Maui, maybe not. Possibly in Kihei, the haouli boomtown.
Living in SF, to going snowboarding, Yosemite, Redwoods, Marin, Mojave/route66 is fine from where you live. There's a whole bunch of 'elbo room' traveling a huge distance by car. How about LA or SD? Plenty of elbo room on the 405, 91, 110, Santa Monica freeway sitting in traffic. Not to mention the pollution, the mean people. A whole big state full of people who can out-compete the New Jersey folks in crassness. Besides, you go to those places for what? A weekend, week, and then drive all the way back. I'd always stayed in the metropolitan city proper, SF for example is really small. You don't need friendster there. 'One' of Five islands in Hawaii, like Oahu is small, too, but its not all concrete with suburbs surounding it, then expanses of round boring hills or flat land. Its a bit more interesting.
To go surfing in the warm, purer waters here, you'll traverse tropical landscape with enough geographical diversity, and beauty, in less than 30 minutes versus traffic in a concrete jungle with grafiti (I used to hit up the 405 back in the day). You can stop in between and go hiking, not everybody here is an 'Extreme Hiker' you know, willing to cross an expanse of flat, arid, dry desert or forest for a few days anyway. For fuck's sake, I just want to stroll.
Well to each his own. At least you visited. Some people don't even think it was added to the US.
Guy with the bad job, no one will blame you if you throw in the towel. Its more a success; you had the courage to take the chance. You got a mean sucker punch, tho'.
