just got back from wakeboarding, it was sweet. I'm a little worried about moving to Manhattan in a couple weeks because I feel like I won't be able to do stuff like that.
hmm.

I guess I am just a little apprehensive about giving up the Intermountain West lifetstyle for the Manhattan lifestyle...
I can be working and in minutes be at the top of some mountain paragliding or be skiing or be climbing or be partying like that, I don't even know what I'll do for fun in NYC...
I hereby change this thread's name to :
What's fun to do in NYC?

get blitzed and make out with chicks at clubs. there you go. fun.

I'm mormon so I don't drink. I make out with chicks though, keep talking...

why don't you drink?

ok, so not many people want to hear it anymore, but hey...
so i went to school in the north midwest, right on lake superior, and many many MANY times i ended up having a blast at the most random times.. (take tonight for instance, i got off of work waiting tables (argh!) and i just dropped into lake superior and went swimming at midnight... awesome awesome times!) anywhoo... so i went to chicago after i graduated, took a pretty sketchy position in a studio that had a ton of cool projects (and awesome people whom i am still in contact with), but i couldn't get a hold of the chi town lifestyle (granted i lived in rogers park on clark and morse), but hey, i couldn't do it.. so i left and came back to the place i went to college in. Turns out, with freelance stuff, i'm able to suffice with waiting tables on the side and still be able to take 2 hour lunch breaks which consist of time on the beach and some good grub and still live ok...
my thoughts from this, do what your heart tells you to do and make your job somehow incorporate into that. then, you will be happy:-)

the first guy - I don't drink because of my religious/personal beliefs.
jpea - thanks man, that totally inspired me. I know what you mean about swimming at midnight, et al. that's EXACTLY the kind of stuff I'll miss...I'm sure new york will rock though...

i bet you anything that new york will rock for you.. anything will rock depending on what you make of it:-)
me, personally, it took a couple of things to get me out of chicago (not that i don't like the town, cause i do, i just can't live there i guess)...
just make sure to cover your bases and hope that people live up to their word (or contracts!) so you can actually financially make it in the city.. but, as for those late night swims, you gotta just find something to replace those (maybe late night makeout sessions with some hot chicks or something!)
no matter what, have fun and don't let work take over a fun lifetstyle!
