this stupid virus got me today, it makes your computer shut down via a :60 timer. It sucked. That's the first time I've ever had a virus before.

there's that LoveSan one out too

It just crashed some functions on mine cuz I had the wrong service pack, it disabled copy/paste and such. You can get it no matter what you do unless you have the patches installed
You can get it removed with something from symantec:
http://securityresponse.symantec…
And then update the windows blaster worm security thingie:

I got caught out at home with it on Monday... the trobule is coz I've got a slow connection... the 60 seconds was never enough to download the patch... and the sixty second warning comes up quite randomly! I had to install a download tool that would let me get it in bursts.
Such a waste of time virus writing.

how did you guys get it?

Downloading a PM Dawn or a Martika MP3 for my girlfriend!

you can abort the shutdown by smacking open a command prompt and entering shutdown -a i think

let me ask you this - those of you on PC's - did you ever get any svchost.exe error messages?
- unknown0
I know it has something to do with... plus there was always 4 of them runnning... I thikn that's how the virus works... i.e by overflowwing the svchost process
- jevad0
fucking fucking fuck it
for the past 3 days I have been battling with multiple svchost errors and shit not working in my browser - cut and paste - dead links etc...
But I have no idea how I got it - I have anti-virus up the ass - uh..until I uninstalled it yesterday cos sometimes Norton can be a bit lame...guess I should just install the msoft patch and reinstall Norton!!
thanks

pretty clever virus. apparently everytime a puter shuts down cuase of it it send mr gates and abusive email.
I havent downloaded anything but still got it. Fair play to the guys who made it. It doesnt cause any melicious damage, even gives you 60 seconds to save your work.
Its just annoying but does expose windows for what it is. full of fucken holes

shit !!!
jevad : yes, i have the svhost.exe messages since 3 days too !!! and copy/paste disabled, some troubles in illustraotr (elements locked..) and sometimes i can't post here.. i mean i can't access into a forum or anything with a password..does the patch and the symantec thing worked out ok for u ?

I think you get the vschost.exe alert if you have a service pack below the 2nd one. That's what I had too. It automaticaly enters your comp as soon as it learns your IP number that's it.
It's a good thing that they sent such a mild virus as a warning, anyone with real malicious intentions could've done serious damage, since the virus remains even after reformating your entire hard drive unless you download the patch and it can take complete control of your comp.
This is no big deal for personal comps, but imagine if it shut down whole businesses and such.

All information you need to remove the virus and some real good one on how the virus works:

I specially like the
"I just want to say LOVE YOU SAN!! billy gates why do you make this possible ? Stop making money and fix your software!!" quote from the virus source!
