how much is an apartment for 2 guys in NYC?
my buddy and I are moving out there, he wants enough room to paint and we would like our own rooms -
other than that we are okay with whatever...dirty part of town, 20min commute by train, we're cool with stuff like that.
any ballpark guesses? thanks.

avg 2000 or more for 2 bedrooms

that's a lot. Is it not possible to find something around ~$1000 up in bronx, harlem or even westchester?

yeah if you live OUT of manhattan, apts are way cheaper... you might want to check out brooklyn. cool spot to live in..

There's no way I could live in Manhattan, it's just too expensive...Brooklyn or something like that is definitely more up my alley...I just looked on craigslist.org, they have a bunch of sweet ones. Thanks man.

I live in Queen (along the L line, right after all the white people get off ... just joking). Pay $750 for 4 small bds (no livingroom). But i lived here for 5 years, so it's obviously cheap.
My mother is buying an apt along the 7 line (large livingroom and 1 bedroom) and she's asking $1200/month.

Friend of mine has a nice 2 bedroom 5 blocks from prospect park (2, A and G trains) for 1100. Another friend about a mile from me (by the J and L lines) 500 for a nice 2 bedroom, but there's nothing around.

718-852-7013Tell him you're interested in refurbished 2brs off 145th St and you're looking for a preferred rate. (<--wording important).

ha haa A LOT, first off it depends where you want live, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island. You'll probably end up in either Brooklyn or Queens if your new to everything, but for two people with money up front for depost and possible broker fee, you are lookin at like at least ~1200 for rent, 1200 for fee and 1200 for deposit. Seriously, if you are looking even for a semi-decent place this is what you are looking at. It was tough for me too when I initially moved there, Had to come up with like $3600 with a friend of mine. :)

but the farther outside the city, the cheaper it gets, West Chester could be an option for you, excellent transportation systems. :)

PS, I have broker friends 'in the city', meaning Manhattan in NY Lingo.
