:D

i was thinking 156/158 anyway. i was more worried about stuff like the base, i'd heard of some boards being pretty unsuitable for rails and stuff like that, just scratching real easy.

damn, you will be part of the new school in that you won't be goofy or regular foot... just ride!

just learn how to ollie before worrying about graphics and set ups. And especially if you are learning id talk to someone who has bought decks for a while. Who could tell you that a girl will snap in 2 weeks, a black label has odd concave and that an alien has a nice shape. Things like truck weight are important too, and don't call it a jump ramp :P good luck.

i was talking about snowboards (the thread kinda got changed by me). it wasn't me buying the gieger deck.
what else would you call a jump ramp?
been riding bmx for about 15 years, maybe jump ramp is a bmx thing

if you're going to ride rails on your snowboard, you might wanty to get another board for park or trail.
rail riding really messes up your board. but its oh so fun.

damn stereo is gone? I bought those boards exclusively... so sad.

two thumbs up for girl/chocolate decks.
be careful for warped boards. just hold the tail or nose and look down the boards profile. It's really easy to tell if its warped.

if youre new to skating, a blank would be ya best bet ....ive been skatin 16 years or so, and can honestly say that i can skate a pro board or a blank board exactly the same..it just takes me a day or two to get used to the change, i dont really think theres that much of a difference (nothing that you cant get used to anyway).
but if youre new to the game , then go for a blank, maybe get a 7.6inch wide one (not too narrow, not too fat) cos whatever board u get will feel totally alien to u, but this is an average size , something good to get you used to skating..then with ya next board youll know wheterh to go wider or narrower...stick some venture trucks on that plank (cos theyre light and youll probably find it easier to learn to ollie than with some heavy trucks), and some 52mm wheels spitfires or something. (super good wheels, this size is a nice size to try first, when it comes to buyin a new set next time, youll know wheterh u want to go bigger or smaller)
youll be loviing it, why confuse things by lookin at all the diferrnt brands, gimmicks etc? this is a perfect beginners set up..i wouldnt say no!!
and as far as graphics go, scratchin em off personalises your board!!! its half the fun makin that shiny graphic scratched up...wrecked board graphics tell a story!!!

i think if you ask in any real skater run shops, they'll sort you out with a blank and a decent set up and fix it all up for you.
if they skate they'll answer all your questions.

thanks a lot for your help, science, that was exactly what i needed.
those graphics are tight, but i really want to get a board immediately. i'm hooked :)

skateboarding sucks

i'll be snowboarding on indoor snow most of the time. they have a few days when they have ramps benches, rails etc. so i guess thats what i'm gonna be mostly riding.
don't think i'll see any outside snow for at long time, that will most likely be north japan somewhere.

remember to deal with the pain. you haven't had a good session unless you go home bloody.
skating is painful, but well worth it.

why are you guys pushing blank boards so heavily? graphics are fun for first time skaters and last a long time for them too...
go get a cool lookin board by a dope company. girls has good tast chocolate, real, I guess stereo is dead, element ain't too bad... c'mon that's the fun of getting your first deck.

good point ;)

true.
i remember my first real deck. 1988 Vision Gonz (colour my friends in). i loved the funky big square nose and the graphics.
