  Enoch Bolles painted more than five hundred magazine covers from 1914 to 1942, as well as countless advertising illustrations. The Bolles girl was the embodiment of several styles and eras; from the Edwardian, to the flapper to the vamp. Although not widely known today it can be argued that he created the genre of pinup.
