A title is nothing without the work behind it - but at the end of the day people will take you more seriously if they understand your role clearly.
ie. I'm not just a designer, I'm the boss of all creative things in this company.
It packs more punch. The hope is that it will make clients feel like they are getting a better service, and hopefully take you more seriously. If you can establish that respect early on, things will always run more smoothly.
The bottom line is, don't claim something you are not and don't rest on your laurels. Young guns will always make you look dated if you do.
