or flatten the image before placing in AI.
that black/black thing also looks like it could be a stray overprint setting. does it show in AI when you select VIEW/ OVERPRINT PREVIEW?
if so select everything in your file and uncheck the overprint attributes box.
- copy/paste from ai retain all the transparency and overprint attributes so you don't have to do this.johndiggity
